What's in a number?

It’s been a while since I’ve updated this blog – partly because I’ve been busy, and partly because it honestly hasn’t been high on my priority list (and partly because the UCT crew boys have discovered the blog and now I can't bitch on it about them anymore :>). But to get back into it, I’m going to do something goofy, but hopefully informative:

South Africa by the numbers:

Days of class: 3 – Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday

Classes being taken: 2 – 3rd World Politics, Economic Challenges of Africa

People in classes: 274 in Politics, 42 in Economics (“Ecos” rather than “Econ”). Politics meets once a week in a Tutorial (“Tut”) of about 15 of us, and 3 times a week in lecture, while Ecos meets only once a week, in a section of 20 – very Williamsy!

Shouting matches in Tut between two people who agree: 1 (excellent)

Hours per week at EPRI: 20

Countries looked at through EPRI: 4 - Mozambique, Zambia (briefly), Uganda, Samoa

West Wing discs watched so far: 8 (Thanks, mom & dad!)

Weekends left at Misverstand: 2, including this coming one, and then…BOAT RACE!

Papers turned in: 1, of 12 A4 pages

Classes skipped: 1, Politics

Pictures taken: Not nearly enough; forthcoming, I promise! I’ll take some pictures at Misverstand this weekend.

Races won: 1 (/1), vs. Stellenbosch

MPs met: 4

Khosa classes taken: 2 (2 to go)

Tins of Lyle's Golden Syrup purchased: 1

Pancakes-for-dinner successfully flipped: 5

Pancakes-for-dinner less-than-successfully flipped: 5 (2 different nights)

Care packages received: 2 (tea+chocolate; glasses+necklace)

That's it for now. More later!

Fun South African word fact for the day - takkies: trainers: sneakers.

Also - if you have questions/comments/etc, please post!
